On October 15, Ambassador to Uganda Wu Guangrong paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minsa Kabanda, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on enhancing experience sharing in city development and governance as well as ensuring the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals and enterprises in Uganda.

Ambassador Wu stated that, under the strategic guidance of the heads of the two countries, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Uganda has developed significantly. The political mutual trust has continued to deepen while the practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. He expressed the hope that both sides should work together to strengthen thetraditional friendship and expand the platforms for sister cities. At the same time, he also proposed that the Ugandan authorities could take more effective measures to improve the public security situation in Kampala and other major Ugandan cities, protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors as well as foster a favorable business environment.

Kabanda spoke highly of the friendly relations between China and Uganda as well as the significant contributions of the Chinese sidefor Uganda. She also expressed the readiness to promote the cooperation between the two countries’ metropolises, and to work with relevant Ugandan departments to take effective measures to safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Uganda.
