Ambassador’s Message

It is a great honour to be appointed by President Xi Jinping as the 19th Ambassador of China to Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa”.

China-Uganda relations have a long history and strong foundation. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962, our bilateral relations have maintained steady and sustained development. Political mutual trust has continued to deepen, practical cooperation has delivered fruitful results, and people-to-people exchanges have grown with strong momentum. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, China-Uganda relations were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2024, opening up broad prospects for even more dynamic growth.

The Chinese Embassy in Uganda will continue to actively implement the important common understandings reached by the two Heads of State and the outcomes of the FOCAC, expand practical cooperation between China and Uganda in various fields, promote exchanges and friendship between the two peoples, effectively protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese nationals in Uganda, and work for steady progress in building a China-Uganda community with a shared future.

As President Xi Jinping pointed out at the Asian-African Summit, “It is hard to lift things alone, but much easier when many work together.” Thank you for your interest in the development of China-Uganda relations. We will continue to provide dedicated services and strive to make this website a vivid window and a solid bridge for China-Uganda relations.

I am confident that China and Africa, and China and Uganda, will move forward with firm steps on the shared journey toward modernization.

Wu Guangrong

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary

of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Uganda
