On September 10, Ambassador Wu Guangrong paid a courtesy call on Hon. Sanjay Tanna, Uganda’s Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. They exchanged views on implementing the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries and deepening bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Wu highlighted China’s zero-tariff policy for African countries and trade facilitation measures. He said that China stands ready to work with Uganda to leverage the zero-tariff policy as an opportunity to strengthen policy communication and business matchmaking, expand exports of Ugandan competitive products to China, optimize the structure of bilateral trade, and promote high-quality trade development. China is also ready to deepen investment and industrial cooperation, encourage more Chinese enterprises to participate in Uganda’s industrialization and value-chain development, and support Uganda in increasing local production and value addition.
Minister Tanna spoke highly of Uganda-China relations and cooperation, welcomed China’s zero-tariff policy, and commended the contribution of Chinese enterprises to Uganda’s industrial development and bilateral trade. He expressed Uganda’s readiness to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with China and further advance bilateral economic and trade relations.
