On September 23, the Chinese Embassy in Uganda hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and Ambassador Wu Guangrong’s assumption of office. Ugandan Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Oboth attended as the Guest of Honour and delivered remarks. More than 400 guests attended, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hon. Kasolo and other Ugandan dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Chinese enterprises and institutions, and members of the Chinese community in Uganda.

Ambassador Wu stated that, over the 77 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, China has achieved the twin miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China. President Xi Jinping’s vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four global initiatives he has proposed have opened up broad prospects for creating a better future for all. China–Uganda cooperation is a vivid example of China and other Global South countries pursuing common development. China stands ready to share opportunities with African countries and advance modernization together.
Speaker Oboth warmly congratulated China on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and welcomed Ambassador Wu to his new post. He spoke highly of the substantial achievements and contributions of Uganda–China cooperation and expressed his hope for greater efforts to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The handover between the outgoing and incoming Chinese medical teams serving in Uganda, together with cultural displays and performances, drew an enthusiastic response from the guests.
