On September 3, Ambassador Wu Guangrong attended the General Assembly for Leadership Transition of the Uganda Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China. The First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and other Ugandan officials were present, alongside nearly two hundred representatives from the Chinese communities in Uganda including the compatriots from China’s Taiwan region.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wu congratulated the Council on its successful leadership transition. He highly commended the contributions that the Council has made since its inception in uniting the overseas Chinese communities, opposing "Taiwan independence" while promoting reunification, as well as fostering friendship between China and Uganda. He called on the compatriots to follow the President Xi Jinping’s important instructions, uphold the concept that "the compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are of the same family", adhere to the One-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism, safeguard the cross-Strait peaceful development and stability, and promote the national reunification.

Kadaga stated that the Uganda government firmly adheres to the One-China Principle and firmly supports the Chinese government's efforts to achieve the complete national reunification. Kadaga also calls on the Chinese communities to contribute for the mutual benefits and practical cooperation of the two countries.
Newly appointed President Zhang Hao of the Council stated that he would serve the compatriots in Uganda, unwaveringly advance the cause of opposing "Taiwan independence" and contribute to the national reunification.
