On August 13, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong attended the Public Open Day organized by Sinopec Uganda Tilenga Oilfield and delivered a speech. About 120 people attended the event, including the Resident District Commissioner for Buliisa, representatives of Petroleum Authority Uganda, TotalEnergies Exploration and Production Uganda, Sinopec International Petroleum Service Co. (Uganda) Limited,together with teachers and students from neighbouring schools.

Ambassador Zhang stressed China and Uganda are close partners on the path to modernization. China will continue to implement the Global Civilization Initiative, and seek common development with Uganda through mutual learning from each others' rich cultures.

Uganda expressed gratitude to Sinopec for organizing the cultural event, expressing confidence that the oilfield development will contribute to Uganda's economic development and expressing its willingness to continue strengthening cooperation and cultural exchanges with China.
