Chinese Embassy in Uganda Hosts China-Uganda Youth Exchange Reception for the Chinese New Year

On February 12, the Chinese Embassy in Uganda hosted the China-Uganda Youth Exchange Reception for the Chinese New Year. Charge d'Affaires a.i. Fan Xuecheng attended the event and delivered remarks. Approximately 80 representatives participated, including members of the Ugandan Alumni Association of Graduates from China, teachers and students from the Confucius Institute, and young professionals from Chinese enterprises and various sectors.

In his remarks, Mr. Fan extended his festive greetings for the Year of the Horse to the youth of both countries. He noted that the horse symbolizes tireless progress and vitality, serving as a vivid reflection of the continuous and vigorous development of China-Uganda relations. Emphasizing that youth are the successors of this friendship, he encouraged them to embrace the "Dragon-Horse Spirit" and forge ahead in the journey of deepening the China-Uganda Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Ugandan youth representatives shared their experiences of witnessing Chinese modernization during their visits to China and recounted stories of their interactions with Chinese peers. They expressed their heartfelt wishes for the enduring friendship between China and Uganda.

The event featured a rich variety of cultural performances, including Chinese poetry recitation, songs in both Chinese and Swahili, and traditional Chinese dances. Participants also experienced festive customs such as writing the character "Fu" (Good Fortune) and tying Chinese knots. The reception concluded with a sampling of traditional delicacies, ending in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
