On August 8, the Chinese Embassy in Uganda hosted an exchange meeting for Ugandan students who have been awarded the 2025/2026 Chinese Government Scholarship and the Degree Education Program under China’s foreign aid. H.E. Zhang Lizhong, Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, attended the event, which was also joined by representatives from the China Alumni Association of Uganda (CAAU), Mr. Peter, Head of the Chinese Visa Application Service Center, and others.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated the students on earning the valuable opportunity to study in China. He encouraged them to focus on their academic pursuits, deepen their understanding of China, promote friendly exchanges, and contribute to consolidating China–Uganda friendship. Ambassador Zhang stressed that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, during which China, as the main battlefield in the East, made significant contributions to the global fight against fascism. He noted that China will continue to advance the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, remain a defender of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a promoter of mutual learning among civilizations, and work to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Representatives of the Alumni Association and the Visa Application Service Center provided the new students with information on preparations for studying in China, tips for daily life, and other matters. The event was held in a warm and lively atmosphere.
